Coalition member Tearfund in partnership with members of WWSO SA (HOPE Africa and the Diocese of False Bay) have released a summary research report from the Western Cape.

Waiting to Speak captures the highlights from a study that explored the needs of survivors of sexual violence within the Western Cape, South Africa.

‘If I speak out, will it change?’

Coalition members, Tearfund and the Province of the Anglican Church in Congo have launched a report which maps the experiences and needs of survivors of sexual violence in eastern DRC.

‘If I speak out, will it change?’ is part of an ongoing programme to empower and mobilise the church and other faith communities to reduce sexual violence in conflict-affected areas in eastern DRC.

 

The report is available in English and French.

It is funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office as part of the United Kingdom’s Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative (PSVI).

Men, Faith and Masculinities

Coalition member, Tearfund has recently completed research looking at the social attitudes and practices of men in relation to gender.

The research was completed in Burundi, Rwanda and DR Congo, facilitated by the Anglican Church in each country.

Transforming Masculinities in the Great Lakes Region

Transforming Masculinities
Coalition member, Tearfund latest report based on a research study, Men, Faith and Masculinities will be launched during the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict during 10-13th June.

The baseline study was carried out in partnership with the Anglican Church in Burundi, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo between August 2013 and February 2014.

SV in South Africa: The role of the church

Coalition member, Tearfund commissioned the Unit for Religion and Development, Stellenbosch to research sexual violence in South Africa and the role of the church in relation to this.

Giving recommendations to churches in relation to the community based research in communities in the Western Cape and KwaZulu Natal provinces, this research seeks to give informed and clear recommendations to church leaders and communities to enable to prevention and response of sexual violence.
